How many devices are connected to the Internet using WiFi?

Well, I have found it!  Thanks to Cisco you will be jaw-dropped when you read this little tidbit.

According to Cisco’s new annual forecast they predict that 71% of the global population will be mobile subscribers by 2023.  Cisco predicts that the total number of machine-to-machine, which simply means IOT devices or The Internet Of Things is growing at a “phenomenal” rate. It is such a large growth rate they cannot put an actual number to it.  In other words the items that connect to the Internet using WiFi cannot be numbered because its growing so fast.

In my opinion part of this cause was Covid.  Covid created this stay at home work environment and people enjoyed it so much their productiveness has increased rather than decreased.  This equates to more people needing good WiFi in their homes and businesses.

Why is WiFi so important?

Boy, that term from “The Terminator” or “Rise of the Machines” is here. Everywhere I go lately, it seems that everyone has their phone glued to their hands. Yes, 5G is fast if you can actually get 5G speeds everywhere you are, which you cannot. Wherever Wi-Fi is available, it’s just easy to pop onto a Wi-Fi network and not use any of your data. There is no such thing as “unlimited data”! There is always fine print! People have smartened up and use Wi-Fi whenever they can. Wi-Fi is super important! The speed and proliferation of it are just as important!

What is the best way to use WiFi?

“The best way to use WiFi is in your home, which you know is secure. Well, you think it’s secured. You may not know about the guy who has a high-powered USB WiFi modem a mile away from your home, who just tried all your passwords in 1 minute using Linux tools. What I mean is that you can never be 100% sure; however, if you do have a good password and you manage your WiFi correctly, your home network is the safest. The second safest way to use WiFi is with a VPN on the device with which you connect to WiFi.”

In conclusion, there are ways to safeguard your WiFi connection experience.
